Bharat Khandekar's research has been based on gaining an insight into the shaping and flexibility of the front a nd back tonal plates.
"I believe that sound is best evaluated with the human ear rather than with scientific instruments as the ear will assess the instrument in the end. Each violin is made, assembled and finished with this in mind."
A violin plate (either the front or the back) has three basic tap tunes (a tap tune is the frequency at which the plate will naturally resonate). Across the plate, along the plate and torsionally, the vibration as the wood twists. Attention is paid to these to achieve a balance between the three in the finished instrument to obtain the best sound. This is done both before and after glueing the plates to the ribs.
the varnish on Bharat Khandekar's vilins is the culmination of years of experience and knowledge acquired from past master makers to emulate as closely as possible the finish of antique Cremonese instruments. A varnish that imparts that elusive resonance that all violinists search for.
All violins are set up to the customer's requirements in consultation to achieve optimum results.
