Bharat Khandekar has been collecting information and practical knowledge for over twenty years. He has thoroughly researched materials with the help of his brother, Narayan Khandekar, formerly of the Getty Museum in Los Angeles now heading his own conservation team at Harvard University Art Museum.

Bharat Khandekar believes in living every practical aspect of his craft. Each instrument is made entirely by hand closely following the traditions and methods of the Cremonese makers. Khandekar has a vast reservoir of experience and knowledge having worked intimately on many great antique instruments including Stradivari, Guarneri, Ruggieri, Montagnana, Amati, Contreras to name but a few. Master makers and repairers of recent years have also generously passed on their skills and know how.

"The art of violin making lies in creating an instrument whose sound reflects the human voice. An instrument that is more alive than innanimate."
